Lifetouch Pictures Picture packages arrived late Friday and will be distributed to students via 6th-period classes this week. If you didn’t purchase portraits, you will receive a proof and you can still order if you wish. The retake day is October 19th for those who were absent or if you are not happy with your purchase. Please reply if you want your student to do retakes.
Run for the Arts is this coming Friday! Our ALL students (and many staff members) will run or walk for 30 minutes at the end of the day, from 2:30 to 3:00 pm. They should wear clothing and shoes that are safe and comfortable for running. This annual event is a fundraiser that allows us to continue our Arts programming. Last year we purchased a kiln for ceramics and paid for numerous contracts with guest artists for Dance and Drama. Registering your runner online and sharing the page via email or social media is a very easy and effective way to get donations from friends and family. See the Young Audience site for da Vinci to set up a page for your student. Our goal for this year is $12,000. Families are welcome to come to cheer on the runners and help mark laps. Forms and monies are due back after the run, by October 19th.
Da Vinci Arts Fair Call for Artists The annual da Vinci Arts Fair is Saturday, December 1st and the time is NOW for Artist Recruitment! The Arts Fair is a community event and fundraiser for the PTSA. Artists are selected by a jury and pay a booth fee. There is a $10 application fee this year. The deadline to apply is October 15th.
PTSA Membership Please support da Vinci by joining our school PTSA! The fee is $20 each and forms are available in the office. We count on membership funds to support all we do at da Vinci. So far, we have just 42 members signed up and we would love to reach or break our goal of 150 members.

Chinook Books benefit the PTSA Books and the mobile app are now available in the office. Books are $25 and the app is $15. You can now order the mobile app online and the PTSA earns 60% until October 15th. You’ll save all year at local, sustainable places you love such as Salt and Straw, Laughing Planet, Hot Lips Pizza, Grand Central Bakery and more. Girls Inc., Girls Self Defense Workshop, October 18 This FREE, PTSA-sponsored event, is open to all da Vinci girls (including all female-identifying students), as well as those at neighboring middle school and high schools as space allows. Spots are filling so please get your application in if you are interested. Registration forms are in the office.
After School Activity announcements:
Jazz Ensemble with Mr. Gerolami Jazz Band starts on Thursday, October 4th from 3:30-4:45. Interested students should be able to read music, if you have any questions, contact Mr. Gerolami.
Trogdor Auditions da Vinci’s only after school rock band is holding auditions Wednesday, October 3rd 3:30-4:30. Anyone interested in auditioning come prepared with a song to perform. If you have questions, contact Mr. Gerolami.
Empathy Club will NOT meet October 3rd-There will be Empathy Club the following Wed Oct 10 bring t-shirts, etc to stencil. Any & all new members welcome. Contact davinciartsempathyclub@gmail.com for more information.
Darkroom Photography Club Parents Jen Trail (Alma 7th) and Kristen and Colin Sharp (Kiran 7th) are going to fire up the darkroom again this semester starting October 3rd and every Wednesday until Christmas Break from 3:15-5.00
They are asking for only serious students for the Photo Club. If your son or daughter is interested in learning how to shoot black and white film, and process it in a darkroom, please sign them up! We want to make clear that this Club isn't for students who are not fully interested in black and white photography and simply need a place to go after school. Additionally, please prepare your student to have enough snacks or food BEFORE they attend the Photo Club. In the past, it was difficult to manage hungry students.
