Help wanted immediately following the show for set strike TODAY
We need the stage to be available for dance rehearsals starting Monday. Right after the final show, we’ll start striking the set and we need a work crew. All helpers welcome. Bring tools if you can. Especially helpful are power drills with Phillips screwdriver heads and hammers. The more the merrier, so stay after the show for a little bit and help get this done.

Spring Dance Concert is coming April 27 & 28
If you have a student in year-long dance, please make sure you have reviewed the concert packet of information, including the mandatory after-school rehearsals and return that paperwork.  A volunteer sign up posted so plan ahead and figure out when you can see the show and when you can help out. This show requires a lot of family support. Online ticket sales will be posted on April 2 for dance families and they will be available to the public on April 16th. These shows do sell out!

Annual Oregon State Testing reminder
We sent home state testing notification materials to all families at the beginning of the year and again just before Winter Break (also lots of info on our website which includes links to practice tests for families.) So here’s one more reminder that we are hoping we have already received all state testing exemption opt-out forms - or will as soon as possible - into our Main Office - the district recommendation was by Feb 1. It’s super helpful to have all information properly organized and processed before testing begins (shortly after Spring Break) and multiple steps are involved for each form. We have forms available in the office, and they are also available online for printing on the PPS webpage. We have been reminded of ODE’s 95% student participation target for school accountability measures, but still do not yet know whether ODE will be reinstituting the School Report Card Level-drop penalty for schools that do not meet the target this year.

Jefferson HS Forecasting Session
The first Jefferson forecating session will be March 14th at 6:30pm and the second one will be April 10th at 6:00pm. Families only need to come to one. It is ok for dance students to come to the first one even though dance placement auditions are April 5th. They will adjust forecasting according to the list the dance director gives so students will get into the right dance class regardless of what they forecast for.

APEX
If your student is enrolled in Apex (for alternative physical education requirement), please check in with them to make sure they are on track with assignments. If students have not made significant progress on those assignments, their schedules will be changed for the last quarter so they are taking a quarter of term dance. All information is on the APEX website.

Howard Hiton Workshops
Howard Hiton is a local therapist and common collaborator with PPS and is offering several workshops coming up. The first is a full day conversation entitled Promoting Healthy Masculinities: A Workshop for Parents and Professionals on March 10 at the McMenamins Kennedy School! Then, save the date for his April 21 workshop Parenting Teens: Keeping Perspective and Staying Connected.

Tis the Season for Spring Musicals

Once Upon a Mattress is fantastic and not to be missed, but almost every high school in town is also running shows in the next couple weeks. Check out this PPS news item for a summary of shows. You’ll see da Vinci alumni in nearly every school in town and it’s a great opportunity to see what happens after middle school and support the Arts.
