Admissions information The lottery for admissions to da Vinci for the 19-20 school year
is now open through March 8th at 8 am. Please see the admissions page on our website
for more information about the admissions process and important dates. All applicants
must attend an information session, fill out a Statement of Understanding and apply to
the online Lottery, even if you have a current da Vinci student. We do need students
(adults are also welcome) to help with the information sessions. Students help greet
visitors and lead tours after the presentation. If you or your student can help out at any
of the sessions, please sign up on Signup Genius.


March for Our Students This President’s Day, February 18th, The Oregon Education
Association and Oregon PTA are encouraging attendance at an education rally in Salem
to advocate for increased funding for education this legislative session. For information or
to register, sign up here.


Health News from our Nurse, Cam This years immunization exclusion date is
February 20th.  If you have received letters or phone calls notifying you that your child's
immunization record is not up to date, they will be excluded from school on February 20th
until their records are updated.  Please provide updates as soon as possible. If you have
any questions, please feel free to contact Carisa the health assistant or Cam, the school
nurse.


Da Vinci Auction News Save the date: April 14th, 2019. The da Vinci auction is the
biggest fundraiser for the PTSA and the Foundation and it’s a fun social event for adults!
The event is at BodyVox in NW Portland. Tickets are only $35. You can now purchase
tickets and save your spot at Margarita Mamas HERE.


Can you help out? We are looking for donations in the following categories: favorite wines
(we'd like to auction off a wine cellar); vacation homes, gift certificates to restaurants and
activities. The catalog of donations already received can be found HERE. Keep checking back, we are always adding to it.


Volunteers are needed to help with planning the event and the day of. Sign up HERE with

Foundation Giving and Incentive
Make a $50 or greater donation to the da Vinci Foundation during the month of February
and you could win two prime seats to Savion Glover, internationally acclaimed tap artist
at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall either April 9th or 10th. Here’s how:
  • Donate directly through All Hands Raised (http://allhandsraised.org/). Click on the
  • Red DONATE button and make sure you select "da Vinci Arts Middle School” OR
  • Write a check made out to the “da Vinci Foundation” and mail it or bring it to office.


Visual Arts Department Ask The visual arts department is looking for resource ideas
and volunteers who have grant writing and/or fundraising expertise to purchase some
additional technology for our visual arts program. We would like to work toward collecting
some digital arts tools for the program, such as a few iPads, a color printer, and a digital

Ashland Trip with Shannon Wasson Seventh and eighth graders are wanted for this
year's Ashland Trip. Shows will include the Broadway Musical Hairspray, a world premiere
of Between Two Knees, and Cambodian Rock Band. Students also see the plays'
prologues, and participate in an actors' workshop. In order to attend this memorable trip,
students need to maintain a "B"/PR grade point average, have stellar behavior and effort in
classes, and turn in an application on time. Applications are available in the office and are

Spring Track Announcement from PIL Youth Sports Many High Schools are now
scheduling informational meetings and practices. Visit the PIL website for more information.
The Cleveland team has shared a flyer that is available to students in the office.


Yearbooks Pre-order yours now on SchoolPay For $20 you can now reserve your copy of
the da Vinci Yearbook. Please purchase in advance so we know how many to order.
