Rose Show is Friday, June 1- Tomorrow!
Students can bring a rose in the morning to the front hall to enter for judging. This annual event is led by our neighbor, Ruth, who cares for our rose beds. If you can help with judging or receiving roses before school, come on in. Ribbons will be awarded in color categories, most blooms on a stem, most creative vase, and best smell.

Capstone Shows, June 1st and 5th, 1:15 - 3:15 pm
Families of performers are invited to watch the Capstone Shows. The programs are still being finalized (and subject to change after the tech rehearsals) but the general order was sent to 8th-grade families yesterday. Please sign in in the office first. There will be a reserved seating area if you are staying for the entire program. If you are just dropping in, please quietly find a seat in the back. The auditorium is mostly full with the entire student body in attendance. If you need to pick up your student early on these days, please arrange this in advance as it is difficult to find students and disruptive to the show to pull students out of the audience.

HELP Needed for final events of the year
We still need a few volunteers to help with the 8th-grade promotion. Please sign up if you can help: Promotion Volunteer Signup. It’s great if families of current 6th and 7th-graders can help out so those with 8th graders are free to enjoy the ceremony. We are also recruiting some student ushers to help with programs at the doors.

Got Flowers?
Our tradition is to decorate the Promotion Reception with bouquets made from contributions of flowers from our gardens. If you have flowers blooming in your yards and garden, bring in cut stems on the morning of June 7th. You do not need to arrange them. We have a collection of vases and will make arrangements with the flowers that come in (this is a fun job and on the sign-up, by the way).

Water Garden Clean up on June 2- Come and bring garden tools and gloves if you have them. The garden will be open from 9 am to noon. We’ll have coffee and snacks. There is a student team that does regular work at lunch in the garden, led by Jason Hieggelke, but there are some blackberries and bigger jobs that require adult attention.

Important 8th Grade Information:
Field Trip Information and a permission form were handed out to all 8th graders last week for the annual 8th-grade trip. On June 6th, all 8th graders will have the opportunity to spend the day at Wings and Waves in McMinnville. Buses will depart about 9 am and return at approximately 5 pm. Please return the forms by Friday, June 1st so we can finalize the number of buses and chaperones needed. You can send in check, cash or pay on School Pay. You can pay next week, but we need to know how many kids are planning to go tomorrow. No student will be denied for lack ability to pay, so please let us know if the cost is an issue. Students can attend school as usual if they are not going.

Promotion will be held at Madison High School, 2735 NE 82nd Ave. at 5 pm. Tickets are not required. Students will rehearse at da Vinci during the morning and will be released at lunchtime. They should arrive at Madison by 4:30 and report to the cafeteria. Doors to the auditorium open at 4:30 pm. A brief reception will follow in the cafeteria.

LAST CALL FOR YEARBOOK PRE-ORDERS!
Order your 2017-2018 da Vinci Yearbook now on SchoolPay. Paper forms are also available in the office if you want to send cash or check for $20. Yearbooks are distributed on the last day of school. We have extended the deadline through the weekend but will pull the final list on Monday morning. We order a set number and label them for distribution in advance so please reserve your child’s copy by pre-paying. If there are remaining copies, they will be sold on a first come basis to students on the last day of school. If students do not pre-order by the deadline, they will need to wait until the afternoon on the last day when staff is available to sell them.

Dance Concert DVDs available.
We have a limited supply of DVDs available for $10 in the office.

End-of-Year Check List:
Locker Cleanout
On Monday, during the first-period class, all students will be asked to clean out their lockers of everything except what they absolutely need for the last few days. Please send in a bag or something to help them pack up.

Lost and Found is overflowing
Many thanks to Amy Gannon for regularly cleaning up and organizing our lost and found area in the cafeteria. There is a mountain of lunch boxes, coats, water bottles … There are also an astounding number of keys in the office and a few found wallets. If you are wondering where all your kids’ clothes went, please come in and take a look.

Overdue Lunch Accounts and Library Books
There is over $1000 in unpaid lunch money owed to Nutrition Services. If your student has an overdue account, please send in money or go online and get this taken care of before the end of the year. All library books are due by June 1. We will hold yearbooks until these things are taken care of.

Summer Dance Camp with Dancescape at da Vinci, June 11 - 15
JUNE 11-JUNE 15, 2018 10:00AM-3:00PM
(with add-on ballet as an option at 9 am)
The first week of summer vacation, there will be an all-day dance camp at da Vinci Arts Middle School. The week-long camp will be five full days of dance!
We have added an optional ballet class. I would encourage any of those dancers preparing to audition for high school programs to consider adding this class. Please also indicate on the form if you would like to continue with the after-school program next fall.
Space is limited and the camp always sells out. Registration forms will be processed on a first come, first served basis. This marks the 20th annual year of this incredible camp brought to you by Dancescape After School Dance Program.
We hope to see you there!
