The Online Auction is Now Open
Many thanks to our auction planning team, volunteers and everyone who attended the event at BodyVox last weekend. We had a great time! There were so many donations that they could not all fit in the time and space at BodyVox, so now here’s another chance to BID, BUY, and continue to support da Vinci. There are some great deals, so check out the auction website and register to be an online bidder.
White Bird 18th Annual Free Field Trip
On April 25th, all students will be attending the Alvin Ailey dance performance at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. We must have permission forms for every student. Please make sure you sign the form and that students bring these to the office first thing on Monday if they have not yet. We will start pulling kids from class and having them call their families during the day if we don’t have the form. If you didn’t get one, you can download it from the website. If your student is missing that day, be sure to report the absence as soon as possible. We will be loading buses starting at 9:50 am. In the morning, we will be reviewing forecasting for current 6th and 7th graders and end of year procedures for 8th graders. This is a day not to miss!
Clothing Center Volunteers Needed for April 26
It’s true- we have a lot of volunteer needs in April. Just twice a year we are asked to send 4-6 volunteers to staff the PTA Clothing Center, located at the Grant (Marshall) HS Campus. The Clothing Center provides assistance to thousands of PPS students each year through this resource. It is entirely run by volunteers and donations from the community. They are open each Monday and Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm. It is a truly rewarding volunteer experience. Let Sheli know if you can help out. More information about the center is on their website. We have one person committed and really need a few more.
The da Vinci Spring Dance Concert is April 27 at 7 pm and April 28, 3 pm and 7 pm Tickets are on Sale now
All seats for the three shows are general admission, $10 and pre-purchase is recommended as these shows do sell out. Please print and save your receipt to serve as your ticket at the door. Purchase now on Arts People.
Volunteers Needed for the Dance Concert!
There are still many open spots on the volunteer sign up. This show requires a lot of family support to supervise the large group of students and run the front of the house. Please check out the sign-up and commit to taking a shift.

da Vinci’s PTSA is thrilled to present SCREENAGERS: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary about the biggest parenting issue of our time, Wednesday, May 16, 6:30 pm, da Vinci’s Auditorium.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development. As with her other two award-winning documentaries on mental health, Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
SCREENAGERS addresses the most pervasive parenting issue of our time head on—depicting teen struggles over social media, video games, and internet addiction. The film empowers kids to best navigate the digital world and provides practical resources to help them do it.

Writing Your Way! is now open for middle school registrations for one-week sessions June 18-22 and June 25-29, 2018. In these workshops, students will turn their notebooks to a new page. They will locate the stories they carry, take risks in writing, learn to turn memory into fiction, fiction into poetry.

Writing the College Essay is also open for registrations from current high school juniors for one-week sessions June 18-22 and June 25-29, 2018. Do you know juniors interested in developing the skills needed to write a college essay that stands out from the crowd? They can get a head start and sign up for Writing the College Essay, a week-long summer workshop. At the end of the week, they will have revised drafts of two college essays.
