Dine out at Pizzicato THIS TUESDAY, February 6 for the da Vinci Foundation
Pizzicato generously donates 20% of proceeds of all sales so plan on lunch, an after-school slice or dinner. Take out also counts and you can call ahead and order. Here’s the menu to make it easy.

National School Counseling Week
We are extremely fortunate to have an AMAZING School Counselor and a super Intern this year. Join me in giving a big cheer for Katie Loewen and Rachel for all they do for students and staff at da Vinci. Feel free to send her notes of appreciation!

Check out Katie’s website for a glimpse of what Katie does. You’ll find info on Outdoor School for 6th-graders, High School transition information and many resources for families.

P:ear Drive
Our LEO Leaders, working with Katie Loewen and Daniel Boettcher, are running a supply drive for P:ear this coming week. Students selected this organization to be the beneficiary of their service work this year. Learn more about the organization on their website. The drive is run through first period classes. All students are asked to bring in either $1 or a small toiletry item to donate to youth in need. Small sample or travel sizes are perfect. If you have unused bottles of shampoo, etc. from hotels, these are great, too.

Lost and Found - Please Help
Thanks to Amy Gannon for recent help cleaning and organizing our impressive collection of lost items in the cafeteria. The number of coats and lunch-related items is getting ridiculous. We need families to come into the cafeteria and help claim items left behind by students. If items are not claimed by next week, we’ll start the process of washing and donating things. In the office, there is a collection of keys and jewelry, a TriMet Hop pass on a lanyard and a couple of coin purses. We also have 3 padlocks for lockers. If your student reports having lost their lock or bus pass, remind them to go look in the office, or come on in and take a look!

After School Music Opportunities
  • Jazz band will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, February 14th from 3:30 - 4:45 pm. All interested students should show up to the first rehearsal. Students should have at least one year of experience with their instrument and be able to read music. If you have any questions talk to Mr. Gerolami.
  • Trogdor Auditions! Auditions for the spring iteration of Trogdor will be on Thursday, February 15th immediately after school in the music room. Any interested students should show up then with a prepared audition piece.

Textiles and 3-D Art Requests
Do you have woodworking skills? The da Vinci textiles program needs a volunteer who can create a few basic wooden loom parts. Solid woodworking skills needed and your own shop. Email Kelda if interested.

Please save your old newspapers and drop off at the office or 3D studio. The 3D art students will reuse & transform into paper mache sculptures. Thank you!

Become a monthly donor to the da Vinci Foundation
Every donation gets us closer to our annual goal so we can maintain our Arts programs and preserve class sizes. Setting up a recurring donation is simple and provides regular income that will add up over time without much impact to your monthly budget. Sign up for whatever amount works for you, and it will be automatically deducted from your checking account.
Visit the All Hands Raised webpage and click the red DONATE button. Make sure you select "da Vinci Arts Middle School” as the recipient.
