Quarter 3 Starts Wednesday, January 23rd. If your student is taking term explore classes, they should now be visible in Synergy. Lists will be posted on Wednesday morning in the cafeteria and outside the office. If a student has not had either year long dance or a term of dance yet, then they must have dance during Quarter 3. If there is an error, for example - year long 3D art AND explore 3D art. Please let Katie the Counselor know. Grade reports will be mailed next week. Please make sure we have your current address in Synergy if you have moved or you are not receiving mail.

PTSA Meeting January 23rd, 7 pm in the Library All are welcome to attend the next general meeting on Wednesday evening. If you have suggestions for the agenda, contact the current officers at davinciptsa@gmail.com. If you want to learn more about the upcoming student dance, the annual auction or just want to meet some other da Vinci folks, come to the meeting!

Geography Bee Congratulations to the following students who will compete in our da Vinci Geography Bee on Wednesday before lunch: Ruby Mae East, Marina Streich, Will Lemen, Isold Styrmisdottir, Sawyer Locken, Sebastian Struve, Elias Norwood, Walker Ferguson, Trey Wasson, Enzo Ungar-Gutierrez, Isaac Lyon, Jack Gallagher, Tesla Chin, Eban Dreher, Laila Deweese. The event will start at 11:20 am. As a general reminder, it is helpful to let us know in advance if you are picking up your student early because it can be problematic to locate them during assemblies and at lunch time.

Admissions information The lottery for admissions to da Vinci for the 19-20 school year will open February 8th. Please see the admissions page on our website for more information about the admissions process and important dates. All applicants must attend an information session, fill out a Statement of Understanding and apply to the online Lottery through PPS Enrollment and Transfer before March 8th at 8 am. Prospective students need to attend an information session with their family, even if they have a sibling currently attending. We do need students (adults are also welcome) to help with the information sessions. Students help greet visitors and lead tours after the presentation. An interest form will be in the office for students able to help.

LEAP Into 9th Grade! PPS neighborhood high schools are offering an opportunity for incoming 9th graders called "LEAP into 9th Grade!" This is a 4 week opportunity for incoming 9th graders to get a jump on being prepared for HS during the summer. If your student has a history of struggling with school, is feeling anxious about the transition to HS, does better with more preparation, or has any other concerns, this may be for them! Registration forms are on Katie the Counselor's Website or on the bulletin board outside the main office. Completed forms can be turned in to the main office or the counseling office at da Vinci!
Yearbook - Call for Photos The annual da Vinci yearbook is in the works and we would love to include your photos. If you have awesome photos from events at da Vinci from this year, please load them onto this drive ASAP.
Children’s Health Fair, February 9th This event is sponsored by the Multnomah Dental Society and is free. It's located at Reynolds Middle School, 1200 NE 201st Ave. in Fairview from 10 am to 2 pm. Students can receive free immunizations, dental treatment, screenings for vision and hearing, OHP Insurance information and more. Lunch is provided.

Immunization Exclusion Day is February 20th Students must have required immunizations or a current waiver in order to be in school. If your student is not current, you should have received notice from MESD. For more information on required immunizations, visit the MESD website.

Ashland Trip Dates: April 3-5, 2019 Applications and more information will come in late February for the annual trip to Ashland with Shannon Wasson. Shows will include Hairspray, Cambodian Rock Band, and Between Two Knees.

Doodle for Google Contest Looking for a creative indoor activity this weekend? All da Vinci students are invited to enter the Google for Doodle contest! The deadline is not until March 18th. If you haven't heard of Google for Doodle, check out this inspiring video about a 6 year old who won the contest. And if you decide to enter, here is the link . Happy doodling!

Donation needs Our cafeteria could use a few items to help students with lunch. If you have a microwave in good working condition that you are not using, we’ll take it. A hot water urn would also be great for students at lunch so they don’t have to heat water in the microwave.
It’s cold season and we go through many boxes of tissues. We always welcome donations of boxes of tissues and hand sanitizer.

After School Reminder Please help make arrangements for your student to leave campus after the school day ends. Unless they are in a supervised club or rehearsal, students should not be hanging out on school grounds.

Yoga and Wellness is running on Mondays in Portable A with Shawna O’Neal after school from 3:30 - 4:30 in Portable A. This is for students, staff members, and parents. It’ll be a fun hour of mind, body connection and movement. This will be a donation practice ($0-10). Please bring a yoga mat and/or blanket to practice on/with if you have one. A mat isn’t necessary, though there will be a few extra to share. No experience is required.

Empathy Club is open to new members and meets on Wednesdays after school from 3:30 to 5 pm, now in room 111, next to the cafeteria. They are looking forward to the new year & finding more events/  volunteer opportunities to help connect all of da Vinci students & their families.
