Thank You for the treats and notes of appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week!
Thanks to everyone who brought in treats for teachers during the last week. Special thanks to the Revels family all the lunch contributions on Tuesday and over the last three years. Also, to Vicky Medley for coordinating the lunch and special gifts for all staff. We will greatly miss both families when Vince and Gus move to high school next year.

HELP Needed for final events of the year
We have just a couple events left this school year and need volunteers. Please sign up if you can help out with the following:.

Music Concert Volunteer Sign up- Need help with the door, supervision of students, and concessions.

Promotion Volunteer Sign up- Need help with decorations, set up and clean up, and serving.

Rose Show on June 1
Roses are brought in by community members in the morning and judged by a panel, including our neighbor, Ruth, who has cared for our roses for many years. Is anyone able to come help keep this tradition going? Need judges and help with set up. Reply if so.

Water Garden Clean up on June 2
Come and bring garden tools and gloves if you have them. The garden will be open from 9 am to noon. We’ll have coffee and snacks.

PTSA Meeting May 23rd, 7 pm in the Library, All Welcome
Join the PTSA in the Library on Wednesday this week for their final meeting of the year.
We need to elect officers and need to find at a minimum, a new treasurer, as Maggie Vera’s daughter will be moving to high school. If you have any interest in serving in this role or questions about the role, please let Sheli know.

Important 8th Grade Information
Information and a permission form will be handed out to all 8th graders next week for the annual 8th-grade trip. On June 6th, all 8th graders will have the opportunity to spend the day at Wings and Waves in McMinnville. Buses will depart about 9 am and return at approximately 5 pm.
The promotion will be held at Madison High School, 2735 NE 82nd Ave. at 5 pm. Tickets are not required. Students will rehearse at da Vinci during the morning and will be released at lunchtime. They should arrive at Madison by 4:30 and report to the cafeteria. Doors to the auditorium open at 4:30 pm. A brief reception will follow in the cafeteria.

Lost and Found is Overflowing
Many thanks to Amy Gannon for regularly cleaning up and organizing our lost and found area in the cafeteria. There is a mountain of lunch boxes, coats, water bottles… There are also an astounding number of keys in the office and a few found wallets. If you are wondering where all your kids’ clothes went, please come in and take a look.

Overdue Lunch Accounts and Library Books
There is over $1000 in unpaid lunch money owed to Nutrition Services. If your student has an overdue account, please send in money or go online and get this taken care of before the end of the year. All library books are due by June 1. We will hold yearbooks until these things are taken care of.

Forecasting Time!
The forecasting paper worksheets and link to the online form are on the website. If you have a rising 7th or 8th grader or a new student to da Vinci next year, please do both as soon as possible. Paper forms should be turned into the office.

Instructions from Counselor Katie:

  1. As a family, discuss and fill out the paper forecasting worksheet (this will assist you as you fill out the online form). Please keep in mind that we are not always able to give students their top preferences, so it's important that students are comfortable with all choices listed in their forecasting.
  2. Next, fill out the ONLINE FORECASTING FORM. If you run into trouble with the online form, please contact Katie.
  3. Have your student turn in their paper forecasting worksheet to the main office.

About Dance/PE for 2018-19
New PPS 2018-19 PE requirements are such that ALL PPS middle school students, including da Vinci students, will be expected to take a minimum of one-quarter of dance during each of their three middle school years. As we meet our PE requirements through dance, all our students will either take, 1) One-quarter of dance; or 2) Year-long dance as an art class.

Yearbook Now on Sale on Schoolpay
Order your 2017-2018 da Vinci Yearbook now on SchoolPay. Paper forms are also available in the office if you want to send cash or check for $20. Yearbooks are distributed on the last day of school. The last day to pre-order your copy is May 31st. We order a set number and label them for distribution in advance so please reserve your child’s copy by pre-paying. If there are remaining copies, they will be sold on a first come basis to students on the last day of school. If students do not pre-order by the deadline, they will need to wait until the afternoon on the last day when staff is available to sell them.

Summer Dance Camp with Dancescape at da Vinci, June 11 - 15
JUNE 11-JUNE 15, 2018  10:00AM-3:00PM  (with add-on ballet as an option at 9 am)
The first week of summer vacation, there will be an all-day dance camp at da Vinci Arts Middle School. The week-long camp will be five full days of dance!

We have added an optional ballet class. I would encourage any of those dancers preparing to audition for high school programs to consider adding this class. Please also indicate on the form if you would like to continue with the after-school program next fall.

Space is limited and the camp always sells out. Registration forms will be processed on a first come, first served basis. This marks the 20th annual year of this incredible camp brought to you by Dancescape After School Dance Program.

We hope to see you there!
