Admissions and Lottery Information
The lottery to apply to da Vinci for the 18-19 school year opens on February 7 and closes March 3 at 5 pm. The information sessions are listed in the calendar highlights above and on our website. Every applicant must attend an information session and enter the lottery, even if you have a student currently at da Vinci. If you know of students who would be interested in attending da Vinci, please invite them to attend a session and learn more about the application process. We have current students help out during these sessions and lead tours. If your student is interested, have them pick up a form from Sheli in the office.

High School Forecasting and application deadlines
Katie the counselor will be facilitating visits from each PPS high school to complete forecasting for HS classes. The first to visit is Grant High School on Monday, January 8th, at 8:50 am. Students will check in with their first period teachers then go meet in the cafeteria with a counselor from Grant. The forecasting forms will come home for review and a parent/guardian signature. They should be returned to the office ASAP. Students should be paying attention to the daily student bulletin as future visits are announced, and be sure to update Katie on their plans if they are in a dual-assignment area. If you have an 8th-grade student, be sure your address is current in synergy. If you are applying to a private school, be sure to request recommendations in advance of the deadline as it takes some time for teachers and administrators to write the recommendation letters.

Immunization exclusion is coming up fast!
February 21st is Oregon's immunization exclusion date. If your child's immunization record is incomplete, you should have received a letter stating what is missing. Please schedule an appointment and make sure immunizations are current, then provide the school with this information before February 21st in order for your child to remain in school. If you have any questions or plan to seek a waiver, please call our school nurse to make sure documents are in order. Call the main office at 503-916-5356 and you can be transferred to our nursing staff.

Mental Health Supports now available at da Vinci
Through a partnership with Western Psychological and Counseling Services, we are so lucky to have George Poliszuk, a Licensed Mental Health Therapist working with students right here in the building! If you have concerns about your student or have thought about pursuing mental health services for your child, this could be a great opportunity for you to take advantage of. Students meet with George during the school day, so this eliminates the need for transportation to and from appointments. Currently, George is able to accept students on the following insurance plans: OHP, Kaiser, Cigna, Lifewise, MHN of CA., Pacific Source, Providence, UBH and Value Options (Beacon).  If you are interested in accessing these services, please contact Katie the Counselor at kloewen@pps.net.

Meal Signup for da Vinci Family
Over the winter break, a member of our community was seriously injured in a car accident and faces a slow recovery. If you can help out by providing a meal, please use this Signup Genius site or contact Sheli for more information about how to assist. Thanks to the families who are helping with carpooling!

In Need of a Digital Camera
Our yearbook staff does not have a camera. At this time we are not able to capture any images of any of the productions and performances in our auditorium.  Do you have a good working current digital camera you no longer use? Consider donating a camera to da Vinci yearbook!
A call for photos!
Our yearbook is in need of photographs from the da Vinci production of Romeo and Juliet. If you have photos to share please contact Judy Holmes via her email, jholmes1@pps.net.  Soon we will ask for submissions for our yearbook.

The da Vinci Auction Committee Needs YOU!
The Auction team has been hard at work for a few months now and is making great progress- with donations valued at over $10,000! See all the volunteer needs on the Auction Volunteer Signup. At this time the most important roles to fill are the sponsorship lead and follow up callers. Potential donors already received a donation letter and form - and many responded- but some just need a follow-up call. It would be great to have about 15 people take on about 15 businesses and get this done! Sign up and the team will contact you or ask Sheli or Liz to get you in touch with the auction team.

New Clubs on Mondays
Photography Club will start on Mondays and there is still room for a few more students. The flyer with information and the application is on the website.

Clay Club will start January 22
There are still a few spaces for Clay Club and information is on the website.

Sunnyside Ski Bus (shared by friends at Sunnyside)
Sunnyside Ski Bus is a super fun way for students to travel up to Mt. Hood Meadows to ski and snowboard with friends. It is a fantastic opportunity for kids to learn skiing and snowboarding for the first time or to sharpen their skills. Ski Bus is for middle school age students. Ski Bus will be Sundays, February 4, 11, 18, 25. We invite students from around Portland to join us. Please pass this info along. We have four adult chaperones each Sunday that support students. Please visit this page for package and price information (enter GoCode 1232601) or email sunnysideskibus@gmail.com.
